Our department was established in the year 1963. Course offered then was B.Sc Chemistry major and minor Physics and mathematics or minor Botany and Zoology. Minor chemistry for physics major students and it was yearly examination until 2005. 2006-07 onwards semester system introduced. And now the combinations exists are PCM and CBZ. CBCS introduced from the year 2019-20.

Presently our department has eight qualified and well experienced teaching staff members and one menial staff. Dr. B. N. Vasudev Naik is the present Head of the Department.

Objectives of the Department

Create an academic environment which promotes the intellectual and professional development of students and faculty. Students will develop a commitment to a life of learning. Students will be aware of the applications of scientific principles, those of chemistry, to social issues. To maintain sound degree programme that prepare students for advance study in chemistry, careers in chemical industry provide a chemistry foundation. Students will appreciate chemistry for its intrinsic aesthetic value.
