The department of Botany of our college came into existence in the year 1963. Department was begin with PU and Degree composite, later in 2004 bifurcated into pure degree section. The founder Principal Dr. Chikkannaya from our department. The department maintains botanical garden with medicinal plants wing.

Presently our department has five qualified and well experienced teaching staff members and one menial staff. Prof M. S. Kodashettar is the present Head of the Department.

Objectives of the Department

• To equip the students with basic skills in identifying and labeling different plants.


• Sensitizing the students towards the need for keeping the environment clean and conserve our natural resources.


• A holistic and academic development to contribute the effective understanding of the subject.


• To develop the attitudes towards science and nature.


• To enhance the knowledge through experiential learning.
• To impart quality education in the field of botany to enable the job market confidently.
