About Library
Library is an essential part of every institution which helps staff and students to enhance the knowledge through various resources such as books, Newspapers, Journals, Magazines and Electronic Library. The K.L.E’s Gudleppa Hallikeri College Library & Information Centre is established in the year 1963. Since 2001 the Library is situated in an independent and spacious building, measuring 379.36sq.m. Library is fully automated with all its subsystems like LAN connectivity. The collection includes 64,759 Books. The seating capacity of the Library is 100. There are 03 staff members to look after the library work. The library has been automated by using ‘e-Lib’ Library software to have easy and speedy access to the library collection & services of its users. It has adopted open access system and maintains Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) to provide easy access to the stacks. The library subscribes more than 40 off-line periodicals and also subscribes on-line e-journals and e-books through N-LIST Database Consortium. Our library provides Home Lending, Book Bank, Reference services, Reprographic services, Digital library with high speed internet & Wi-Fi, facilities.

Mission:To provide information, access services, and library instruction. The Library staff provides key guidance in the use and retrieval of information as per the needs of the students. The Library seeks to Build and maintain a quality collection in co-ordination with the college Community.

- Acquire and also conserve knowledge for the posterity.
- Provide opportunities to all users to develop healthy interest in the fields of Science, Arts & Commerce.
- Provide necessary information resources to promote teaching and learning.
- Provide access to information to all types of users to pursue reading habits.
Library Advisory Committee (LAC)
The function of the Library Advisory Committee is to support the functioning of the library so that it can facilitate the library development plans by advocating the library development activities with the management. It acts as a channel of communication and dialogue between the Library System and its users. Its main objective is to establish a bridge between Library, Academic Fraternity, Student Community and the institute.
The LAC is constituted by the head of the Institution. As per the notification the LAC was constituted by the Honorable Principal and is as follows;

Library Membership
All the enrolled Students, Appointed Faculty Members & Visiting Faculty Members of G H College are entitled to become the members of the library.
A Bar-coded ID card will be provided to each student and staff. It is to be used for all library services and also as college Identity card.

Rules & Regulations
Re-Issue & Recall of Books:
• Books shall be re-issued to the same borrower once only. The Librarian can recall books at any time, if need arises.
Condition of Loan:
• The borrower shall be held responsible for any damage or mutilation noticed at the time of returning the book.
• All the books shall be returned on or before the due date mentioned.
Overdue & Fines:
• Till the end of examination we will not charge any fine (for UGC/PSLL books) but after the exam we will charge Rs.50.00/book/month.
• For Overnight issued books Rs.5.00/book/day
Loss of ID card:
• Members shall be held responsible for the loss & misuse of ID card. First one has to write a letter to the Principal to get permission for the duplicate ID card & the same is to be submitted to the librarian. Duplicate ID card will be issued at the cost of Rs.100.00.
Loss of Books, CDs & DVDs, etc.:
• A material lost by the Member shall be replaced either with latest edition or pay Triple the price of the material.
• If a volume of a Multi-volume publication is lost, one has to bear the complete set price if the lost volume is not available in the market.
Things 'to Do' & 'Not to do':
- Only registered members of the college are allowed to use the Library.
- You will not be entertained without the valid I.D. card, and it is Non-Transferable.
- Borrowers Ticket will be issued to the users, while showing the fees receipt of admission.
- Users are required to write their name while entry in the library
- Entry in the Book Stacking Section with Bag, books and other materials is strictly prohibited.
- Using of Mobile Phone and other gazettes in the Library is strictly prohibited.
- Reference books and Periodicals are not issued outside the library premises.
- Maintain Silence in the Library especially in the Reading Hall.
- Eating, chewing, and smoking is strictly prohibited.
- Borrowers must satisfy themselves with the physical condition of books before borrowing.
- Members are responsible for books issued against their lost tickets.
- Using computers of Library for emails, chatting & Preparing PPT is prohibited.
- Readers’ should not write in, mark or otherwise disfigure/damage books, furniture, etc.

- Library Timings: 09.30 am – 06.00 pm on all working days.
- Book Issue Timing: 10.00 am – 5.00 pm
- Exam Time : 9.00 am -- 8.00PM
- Reference Book Issue Timing: During Library Hours
