About College

The North Karnataka, especially its southern part was educationally and socio-economically acutely backward. Shri. Gudleppa Hallikeri, one of the great visionaries of our area, took the lead along with his followers to fulfill the aspirations of the people of this part of Karnataka. Thus came into existence, in the year 1963, our hallowed institution, Gudleppa Hallikeri College. His highness the Maharaja of Mysore, the then Governor of our state Shri J.C Wodeyar laid the foundation stone for the new building of the college in 1964. Thus, began the grand journey of dissemination of higher education to the deprived people of this region. We gratefully acknowledge the contribution of, Shri. M K Nelivigi a major donor.
The humble beginning was made with the Arts and Science streams which quenched the thirst of higher education of the long-deprived people of our region. Later, in the year 1977, the commerce stream was added to broaden the scope of the educational horizon. To cater to the need for modern and global-oriented educational courses, we added B.C.A. in the year 2007 and M.com. during the year 2008.
The institute imparts Higher Education in Basic science branches; Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology. Arts faculty covers History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Geography, English, Kannada and Hindi. Commerce faculty covers Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Income Tax and Management subjects. Professional touch to the education is given through BCA. Post Graduation in Commerce is the latest inclusion to this long list of bouquet of courses offered.
